How To Keep Your Spine Happy And Healthy

How To Keep Your Spine Happy And Healthy How To Keep Your Spine Happy And Healthy
By Jim O Kelly
There are several things you can try in order to help your spine as healthy as possible as well as reduce complications from your back condition.
Tips For Keeping Your Spine Healthy
Rest your spine while sleeping - Once you are lying down, all the structures in your spine that worked all day can finally relax and rejuvenate. It is very important for you to use pillows and mattress to let your spine rest in a comfortable and supported way. Your choice of pillow and mattress is often based on personal preference, your specific neck or back problem, or your preferred sleep positions.
Find time to exercise your core in order to strengthen your back muscles and abs - Your core muscles (abdominal and lower back muscles) must be strong and supple to support your spine. It must be capable of taking the pressure off your lower back. Be reminded that most of the core muscles are rarely used on a daily basis. Hence, they must be toned via targeted exercises. These exercises are very simple and can only be done in 20-30 minutes every day.
Choose shoes that will support your spine - The kind of shoes you wear will have a huge impact in supporting your lower back. Good shoes will provide a supportive base that will help the body and spine remain in alignment. For instance, you need to make sure that the shoe will snugly fit the back of your heels. A good fit will prevent supination/pronation or too much rolling of the foot to the inside or outside.
Always practice good ergonomics whilst sitting - The discs in your lower spine are loaded thrice as much as when you are sitting as compared to when you are standing. Long periods of sitting will aggravate or create a painful back condition. If sitting at a desk, people usually slouch and lean forward. Doing this will stress your lumbar discs. It is indeed very important for you to choose the right office chair as well as practice good posture whilst seated. Most importantly, always avoid sitting for long periods by getting up to stretch and walk around every 20-30 minutes. For your spine to stay healthy, you need to move frequently. Movement will fuel the spine with healthy nutrients.
Reap the benefits of massage - A good massage helps boost endorphins in your bloodstream. Also, it can encourage blood flow that helps bring healing nutrients to the affected area and boost healing. Chiropractic treatments can also help.
More about chiropractic treatment here.
Massage surely can help make your spine healthy. Today, there are plenty of chiropractic techniques that will help promote the health of your spinal column. For more info, check out this site.

How to Control Stress Eating

How to Control Stress Eating How to Control Stress Eating
By Julie Gorges
The last few years were stressful ones for me. As a result, for the first time in my life, I got into the habit of stress eating.
I'm referring to the routine of emotional, mindless eating and snacking. Stuffing myself with junk food, not to fill my stomach, but because I'm bored, stressed from everyday life, overwhelmed, or exhausted.
To make matters worse, sometimes I'm eating without paying attention to the food or really enjoying it. Suddenly, I crave chocolate or chips or pizza and nothing else sounds good. So, I woof it down while watching TV, reading a book, or playing on my iPad. The need to eat isn't coming from my stomach but from inside my head. I don't eat until I'm full but until I'm uncomfortable.
Sometimes I start off with good intentions and eat something healthy like veggies but I still can't get those darn chips off my brain. Not satisfied, I eat a huge bowl of popcorn thinking that will do the trick. I'm full, but I can't quit thinking about those nachos I wanted in the first place. So I end up eating the veggies, popcorn, AND the nachos. My stomach is so full and bloated, I end up feeling downright miserable. In my twisted mind, I convince myself I should just go for the nachos next time instead of all those extra calories I ate before eating what I really craved. So that's what I do.
Briefly, I feel better, but then I feel disgusted with myself.
Sound familiar?
So what can we all do to stop stress eating and avoid the dreaded unwanted weight gain that usually results? Here are some simple tips I plan on using:
Identify Emotions and Triggers
Take comfort, stress eating isn't all your fault and actually has a logical reason behind it.
When you feel stressed out, your body produces high levels of the hormone cortisol. Cortisol increases your appetite and triggers cravings for salty, high-carb, sweet, and high-fat foods. These foods give you a burst of energy and pleasure by increasing the brain's feel-good dopamine response. Over time, your brain may start to depend on these comfort foods to calm down and feel better.
In addition, if you're not sleeping at night because you're anxious, that only makes the problem worse. And if your life feels unfulfilled and empty, food may fill a void.
So, the first step is to figure out what is making you reach for that bag of chips. Does your life feel out of control? Are you frustrated? Overwhelmed? Mad? Anxious?
Focus on the real issues at hand and you'll be ready for the next step.
Learn to Accept Your Feelings
Often, we eat to avoid feelings that make us uncomfortable. Food is a nice distraction sometimes.
If you're stressed out about your job or financial pressures, worried about an upcoming event, or stewing over an argument you had with a loved one, it's usually easier to focus on eating comfort foods instead of dealing with the painful situation.
The emotions won't go away, however. If you stress eat, you'll also add the burden of guilt for sabotaging your weight loss goals. This starts a whole cycle - and not a good one. Your emotions trigger you to overeat, you beat yourself up for ruining your diet, you gain weight, feel even more guilty, and then overeat again to try and make yourself feel better.
So, give yourself permission to feel angry, fearful, anxious, guilty, or exhausted. Invite those negative feelings in to visit and accept them with kindness. Eventually, your body and mind will come to understand that these feelings are okay. That you don't need to comfort yourself with food to protect you from your own emotions.
The truth is when you don't try and suppress negative feelings - even if they are painful - it will help you quit obsessing over your emotions. Your feelings will lose their power over you. You'll learn to control your anxiety and deal with negative feelings in more constructive ways.
As a bonus, when you listen to and accept your feelings, you'll discover what it is you truly need and then make necessary changes in your life.
Pause for a Moment
Take a moment to stop and reflect on why you want to eat. Tell yourself that you'll put off eating for just five minutes. During that time, you'll give yourself the chance to make a different choice than reaching for that bag of chips.
Ask yourself how you're feeling. Understand what is motivating your need to eat and think of a better way to address those feelings. (See the section below for some ideas on positive ways to deal with negative emotions.)
However, if you still really, really want a bowl of ice cream, it may be better to indulge in moderation. As I learned from my experience as related in the beginning of this article, eating a bunch of veggies and rice cakes when you really want some chips or chocolate won't work in the long run.
"Reach for something you don't really want, and you're likely to eat more of it because it isn't satisfying," explains Michelle May, MD, author of Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat. So, go ahead and indulge, but step away from that laptop, TV, or iPad, so you can focus fully on the treat you want to eat. Why? If you don't take a moment to enjoy everything about it, "then the real reason you're eating it won't be served," she says, and you'll be more likely to give in to other high-calorie foods-not to mention more of them.
Even if you give into temptation and eat something you shouldn't, you'll better understand why you're turning to food for comfort. Maybe you can react differently the next time cravings hit.
Find Alternatives
Once you understand the cycle of stress eating and some of your triggers, find other constructive ways to deal with your emotions.
If you're stressed out, turn on some favorite music and dance around the house. Take a brisk walk. Write in a journal. Do something creative like painting or scrapbooking. Practice deep breathing until you feel calm. Get outside and enjoy nature.
If you're feeling depressed or lonely, call a good friend or family member, pet your dog or cat, or look through an old photo album. If you're angry, practice the healing art of forgiveness. If you're bored, plan your next trip or start filling your calendar with exciting events. If you're exhausted, treat yourself to a soothing cup of tea or a long bath with scented candles.
It also helps to take positive steps to tackle issues that may be bothering you. For example, if financial problems are weighing you down, start implementing constructive strategies toward paying down debt or saving for retirement.
Keep in mind, negative emotions don't typically last forever. Just because you're miserable today doesn't mean you'll be unhappy tomorrow. But in the meantime, find alternative healthy and positive ways to deal with your emotions.
Pay Attention to What You Eat
Stay away from mindless eating and really appreciate your food.
When shopping, think about the nutritional value of the food you're buying and how it will make your body stronger. Try out some new healthy recipes. When you're cooking, use all your senses to appreciate the aroma, texture, color, and even the sounds of the food as you cook them.
And when it's time to eat, take time to enjoy your food fully. Take small bites, chew slowly, and appreciate all the ingredients, tastes, and seasonings. You'll be surprised at all the flavors packed into one bite when you do so.
Start Each Day Anew
Finally, be kind to yourself. If you have a setback and indulge in stress eating, start over the next day. Learn from your experience and plan on how you can prevent it from happening again. Focus on the constructive changes you're making in your eating habits that will improve your health.
And go ahead and indulge every once in a while. Just take the time to truly savor it.
So, there you go. Next time, I get the urge to stress eat, I'm following the steps I've outlined above. How about you? Join me and we can combat stress eating together!

Boobs and Why Men Love Them

Boobs and Why Men Love Them Boobs and Why Men Love Them
By Hita Prem
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) wondered, "I mean seriously, they are just breasts. Every second person in the world has them." Exactly, every second person in the world has them. Your mother, your aunt, your grandmother, your teacher, Bruce Jenner... Oops! Caitlyn Jenner. Anyway, The underlying point is, breasts are not a big deal. They are just round, bouncy, fat that are like drooping extras on the female anatomy. Nothing breathtaking about it.
But, we have to face it. Men are hardwired to worship them. Straight men and particular women of course. Apart from the sexual impression breasts have, the question of the hour is, Would they love boobs if there was something wrong with it? No, not breast cancer.
  1. Polymastia (Accessory breasts): A more scientific name would be mammae erraticae. Apart from the movie fiction fans, there have been reported cases of polymastia since the 15th Century. Here is another added surprise. These extra mammary glands are not always located on the chest. A woman named, Therese Ventre of Marseilles, France, had an extra nipple on her thigh. When she reached puberty, it too matured. She became pregnant and was able to supply milk through them. That's right. Milk through her breasts, located on her thighs.
  2. Nippleless Breasts: It is not a documented condition as such, but it is definitely a craze amongst a few. Having one's nipples removed surgically is something the doctors have to be put through. In a more philosophical approach, a few of those with breast cancer have this condition as well. Having a perfectly smooth, round breasts are something a few women dream of, though. But to be frank, nipples are the best part of a scintillating chest. Right men?
  3. The Largest: In the elaborate study done in 2013, men who love big breasts are financially insecure. In that case, those who are in love with Annie Hawkins-Turner are going to go hell-bent and homeless. She has officially broken all records. With a measure of 72 inches all around and 43 inches under-bust, with a bra size of 48V, she holds the record for the World's Largest Natural Breasts. Guessing all of her friends might be chiropractors. No offence Annie. You Go, Girl!
  4. Gynecomastia: They are also known as man boobs. It is self-explanatory. But the weird fact is, there are a few men who get it done surgically. Straight men, as a matter of fact. A man named Adam Carolla, from New York, got his own pair of beauties because he could not find a girlfriend. No comments man. Whatever works for you. You just keep doing what you got to do.
  5. Paget's Disease: A malignant breast disease that involves the change in skin and nipples. At first, the skin develops a rash, like eczema. Later on, bloody or straw tinted discharge. The nipple may turn inwards.

So, back to the question of the hour. Are breasts still extremely sexy and interesting even if they aren't perfect? Ask yourself that question and then maybe we can ogle at beautiful women with their massive mammary glands.

Controls and Credibility Are Essential for Testing

Controls and Credibility Are Essential for Testing

Controls and Credibility Are Essential for Testing
By Nicholas Focil

The information gathered from clinical trials and clinical research is often used to help verify details and to help continue to move forward various concepts. The information can be used to conclude a product is too risky for humans to use due to the long-term effects. Other times, it can open up a new opportunity by verifying a product helps reduce symptoms and helps people.

It can be a long process to get the initial concept to the clinical trials and clinical research stages thought. There is plenty of paperwork that has to be completed and plenty of controls that must be in place. Complying with legal issues is part of the struggles and you also have to look at the ethical elements. It can be a complex web of information to sift through to make sure it is all legal.

Finding the right participants for clinical trials and clinical research also plays a role in the outcome. At the same time, those involved in the process have to be unbiased in all of it. They have to be objective so they don't corrupt the outcomes - either accidentally or intentionally. This can undermine the entire operation and it can result in your company losing funding.

The Right Methods

In order for the outcomes to be credible and to continue being built upon, they must be done correctly. The right methods have to be put forth for that type of clinical trials and clinical research to be successful. This can be time consuming and at times it can be expensive. Yet it is an investment that helps to get results and to continue moving forward with science.

Who you hire to take care of the various phases of your clinical trials and clinical research makes a significant impact on the outcomes. You need to learn all you can about that provider to verify their methods, their credibility, and the credentials they have in place. You need to spend time talking to them to see if they can take on the needs of your specific type of study.

If anything is compromised, the entire clinical trials and clinical research relating to that subject matter won't be credible. The time, money, and effort involved with it will be all for nothing. You have to make sure you have the right foundation in place from the beginning. You also need to make sure you have the right provider on your team to work with.

Such a provider can help you with getting the right samples in place for the test. This includes the test group and your control group. You may not have experience on how to randomly pick or how to get specific criteria met. However, they are experts in this type of filtering so they are able to get the ball rolling correct from the very beginning of your process.

Documentation and Reports

The outcomes should be provided to you with detailed documentation and reports. It is important to outline with the provider when you will get such information. It should be at regular intervals through the duration of the studies. The information needs to be very detailed and it needs to be easy to understand.

The results of such information can help you to decide what you would like to do. This can include the decision to move forward with additional testing and studies, to end the research due to the outcomes, or to modify options and try a new path. Such information is very important and you need to know the provider is going to make it a top priority to delivery correctly.

We are dedicated to clinical research efforts to help offer information for pharmaceutical companies. Our goal is to make sure patients can have access to medications to help them live the best quality of life possible. We strive to use cutting edge procedures and techniques to deliver unbiased information with both Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials. Please learn more about our procedures at http://www.fomatmedical.com. Step Outside of Your Usual Rut

Step Outside of Your Usual Rut Step Outside of Your Usual Rut
By Irene Roth
We all get into sulks and ruts. And this is especially the case for chronically-ill individuals who experience a lot of pain and fatigue all the time. Life just seems to carry on in a monotonous fashion, with nothing ever being different.
One of the best ways to get out of the rut of the usual and monotonous is to take steps to change things up a bit. You may want to take on a new habit. Or, go out with a new friend for a while. Or, pick up the phone and call someone that you wouldn't try before.
When everything that we do is the same, our life can seem like a prison of sorts, where everything follows exactly the same patterns to the minute.
So, here are a few things that you could do to change things up for yourself:
1. Plan to do something different once a week. Schedule it into your planner so that it happens.
2. Buy something nice for yourself that will put a smile on your face-that could be a bouquet of flowers or get some new nail polish.
3. Give yourself a new manicure.
4. Go for a pedicure.
5. Buy one new garment for yourself-something that puts a smile on your face.
6. Read a book that is inspiring and that puts a smile on your face.
7. Take a course or workshop to improve your life.
8. Go for a walk-even if it is a short one-if you get a beautiful day. By walking once a day even for a few minutes you will feel more alive and inspired.
9. Go to the movies-either alone or with a friend. Just don't go with any family members-people you are always with.
10. Ask a friend if she would like to join you for a coffee. If not, go for a coffee yourself to your favorite spot. Sit in a comfy chair and enjoy your coffee, sip by sip.
11. Become proactive with your health-if you don't feel well take it easy. Don't push yourself past your pain. This will help you to feel more alive and inspired.
12. Avoid stress as much as this is possible.
13. Accept things more-even if things are awful!
14. Smile often, even if it is for no apparent reason.
15. Groom yourself-look good and take steps to feel good.
By taking these steps, you will feel better and get out of the rut of the usual and mundane.
Individuals who do this find that they feel better, experience less pain, sleep better, and feel more in control of their illness. Now that is a winning combination to living well.

Air Quality, Mold & Your Mitochondria

Air Quality, Mold & Your Mitochondria Air Quality, Mold & Your Mitochondria
By Rex Murphy
Nearly every home and office has some degree of indoor air pollution. Poor indoor air quality is widespread enough for the EPA to put out a statement recently placing poor indoor air quality in the top five major health threats we face today. That's huge. More specifically, most homes and offices have mold and mold spores as part of the mix of pollutants. Mold is not only a very strong carcinogen, but along with increased allergy and asthma symptoms, the mycotoxins produced by mold spores cause a variety of health problems when mold spores are inhaled. And recently, many of those health problems are being found to be connected to how these mycotoxins damage the mitochondria in all of our cells. This makes getting rid of mold and filtering the air of primary importance if your goal is optimal health for yourself and your family.
Why do we have mold in so many homes and offices? It's primarily the result of two things: excess moisture and indoor air conditioners. Mold spores are literally everywhere. And when an air conditioner has a coil that cools by condensing and evaporating water from a coil the blowing air across it, mold spores easily find the moisture they need to reproduce, along with other organic material (dust and other things) that settle on the coil and create a great environment for mold (and bacterial) growth. Then, every time the AC turns on, it blows some of the mold spores out into the ducts polluting them, and out into the rooms of your home or office, polluting the air you breathe every day.
And that's just the effect of an air conditioning system polluting the air. If you have any weather damage or other water damage in the home or building, mold will set up and grow there, as well, allowing mold spores to become airborne. And no, even the best AC filters aren't enough to stop mold spores--most of them are too small and pass right through, and some debris stuck to the inside of the ducts blows out of the vents and you breathe that before it can be recirculated back through the AC to have the filter remove some of it. And... a UV light will help kill airborne bacteria and mold, but doesn't trap anything, leaving the tiny particles in the air to cause reactions.
This is why it is vital to actually filter the air in your home and office with one or more portable air purifiers in the rooms where you spend time, ideally. Portable air purifiers are better because they will grab what's in the air in your room or office before you can breathe those pollutants. This prevents the mold spores from settling on our skin and prevents them from being inhaled. preventing a variety of health problems--and mitochondrial damage. If you want some really good information on mold and how bad the problem really is, check out Dave Asprey's documentary on YouTube called Moldy. And for some very in-depth and usable information on how mold and other things affect our mitochondria, check out his groundbreaking new book 'HeadStrong'. It is an incredible book on the subject of mitochondria.
Bottom line for preventing mold and the health issues it causes is to 1) make sure to fix any leaks or other sources of excess moisture in the home or building, keeping the indoor humidity at 35-45% maximum. Any higher than that is enough to feed mold and bacterial growth. 2) be sure to filter the air in your home or office with a quality portable air cleaner with medical HEPA and quality activated carbon. This will remove the majority of any airborne mold spores, dust mites, chemicals, and other pollutants we don't need to breathe.
As always, we hope this information helps you and those you love live a healthier, happier life.

Your Doctor Just Prescribed Kidney Failure Treatment - Now What?

Your Doctor Just Prescribed Kidney Failure Treatment - Now What? Your Doctor Just Prescribed Kidney Failure Treatment - Now What?
By Morris Raymond
You've just been told that your kidneys are no longer working the way they need to be, and as such, you're now in need of treatment to essentially keep you alive. The good news is that you have options, and the idea of kidney failure treatment proves to be a rather hopeful ray of light during an otherwise dark time in your life.
Oddly enough, it tends to be the psychological aspect of hearing bad news about your health that can weigh heavily on a patient & his or her family. How did this happen? When did it happen? Did I do this? Why is this happening to me/us? Questions abound, and without many answers, it is easy to see why so many patients facing kidney failure can sink into a lull if not a full depression.
Though better said than done, however, it's important for the patient and his or her family to face the news with a plan. Answers to tough questions will come, but right now, you need to devise a way to move forward & seek treatment based on your doctor's recommendations. In fact, what is needed is a decidedly strong-willed nature & a commitment to provide the best environment for your treatment.
Think about it. When you get sick with some sniffles and a little cough, depending on your mental approach to the symptoms, you can either feel a little "off" or absolutely out-for-the-count ill with no chance for recovery. Your mental strength plays an important role in your health, and as such, your kidney failure treatment requires the following from you and those around you:
- following your treatment schedule
- following a special diet
- taking any, and all, the medications prescribed for you
It must be stated, though, that you need to know what exactly is going on inside of you. It is important to maintain an open and honest relationship with your doctor. Before the treatment schedules, diets, and medications, ask your doctor to explain where you are based on stages of the progression of your kidney failure. By better understanding what it is your body is doing, you will be better able to grasp that your treatment is aimed at helping you maintain a productive life even while in the midst of major organ failure.
Your doctor will indicate that you will either need dialysis or an organ transplant. You should talk about the pros and cons of each treatment option with your family & with their input and the advice of your doctor, choose the option that fits best.
Though it is a bit of a darker way of looking at your prognosis, you need to keep in mind that even though you have treatment options, treatment does not mean a cure. There is work to be done on the horizon, but with that said, kidney failure treatment is a reason to feel optimistic about the road ahead for both you and your loved ones.

Hygiene in Nineteenth Century America

Hygiene in Nineteenth Century America Hygiene in Nineteenth Century America
By Charles Waters
In August 1879 a young Robert Louis Stevenson boarded the immigrant train in New York, bound for Chicago. The middle class Scot was journeying to meet his American true love, Fanny Osborne. His parents, unamused by the union, refused to fund his journey. In love but suddenly impecunious, the young author was forced to travel in economy class. His daily life for the next few weeks is one that most nineteenth century Americans would have recognised.
This is a world, Robert chronicled, that was intimately communal. He soon became accustomed each morning to unfurling his stiff limbs from the bench next to his fellow travellers. His ears became attuned to the dawn chorus of coughing, sneezing and spitting rippling down the carriage. His educated brain tried to suppress thoughts of cholera, tuberculosis and diphtheria. An enclosed environment such as this was the perfect breeding ground for these and other potentially lethal diseases.
The 'rancid stench,' as he graphically put it, of his fellow travellers was impossible to ignore. Like everyone else, Robert wore the same clothes for days. The cowboy could blend with the smell of animal and leather, but on a train there was nowhere to hide.
He could at least cleanse the body. But these were the days before hot piping water at the twist of a tap. All water onboard had to be stored and drawn from a water filter in one corner of the carriage. A hot bath was a luxury most Americans experienced once a month and one Robert would enjoy at his journey's end. Until then a wash meant a perfunctory sluice using soap, flannel and tin wash basin bought from the newsboy onboard. Once refreshed, these utensils would be recycled by his fellow travellers. For those without much, sharing was a common currency.
No one, not even the rich and powerful in First Class, could disguise bodily odours with the deodorants we take for granted today. Ancient Egyptian women are said to have poured globules of perfumed wax over their heads, or applied porridge to the more sensitive areas of their body. These and other exotic remedies were lost to history. Robert and most Americans would have to wait until 1888 before they could dab on the first commercial deodorant.
Before returning to his seat, Robert might run a comb through his matted hair. Washing out the lice and grime could wait until he found a barber. The ladies on board would also bide their time. Brushed hair was more important; the monthly hair wash, perhaps with one of the available powder shampoo and conditioner, could wait until they arrived at their destination. No one rushed to use the available bar soap made of Sodium Hydroxide. This could be very hard on the hair and needed something equally basic, such as vinegar, to rinse it out.
Settling back into his seat, the young Scot might engage in conversation with his neighbours. This, he quickly discovered, could be hazardous. Oral hygiene was not a high priority in the nineteenth century. Fresh breath, clean gums and sparkling white teeth, much prized in Ancient Greece and Rome, were not common.
They might have washed their mouth out with baking soda, salt or even soap. If Robert was very lucky, they used a tooth powder like the one advertised in the Dodge City Times of 1879, containing, amongst other things, charcoal and bark. As would the cowboy by the campfire, running a cursory finger across his gums with cold ash from the embers. Robert, like us, might have recoiled at the thought of sharing the communal toothbrush available at public eateries and wagon stations. Everyone prayed fervently that they didn't need a tooth removed. In a world that was totally unregulated, where dentists didn't exist, that meant going in search of tradesmen with the means to extract. Your friendly barber, for example.
One bodily function Robert shared with no one was relief of his bowels. Onboard toilet facilities did not become available until the end of the nineteenth century. He, like everyone else, had to hold on until the train stopped. As they alighted from the train, they were advised to hold their nose. The stench from waste, human and otherwise, would have been appalling. The cowboy in the wilds of Texas or Montana enjoyed cleaner air. It is no accident that the Native Indians regularly moved camp. They weren't merely following the Bison. They were escaping the human detritus that accumulates in any human encampment.
A bustling city like Chicago could boast the latest mains sewerage system. But Robert and his contemporaries would have to wait until 1907 before sampling the first flush toilet. The cowboy could simply disappear into the bushes with a corn cob or clump of grass. Young Robert perhaps sampled Joseph C. Gayetty's packaged toilet paper, pre-moistened sheets medicated with aloe. More likely he recycled a few sheets torn from a Sears catalogue - perhaps a few sheets of the humorous spin-off, 'Rears and Sorbutt'.

Why Rudraksha Is Considered Beneficial for the Wearer

Why Rudraksha Is Considered Beneficial for the Wearer Why Rudraksha Is Considered Beneficial for the Wearer
By Hakim Hari Krishan
The word 'rudraksha' is a combination of the Sanskrit words, 'Rudra', another title of God Shiva and the word 'aksha' meaning teardrops. The literal meaning is "Shiva's teardrops" from mythical story of the tree bearing the "blessed seed". It is said that Lord Shiva once went into a deep meditation to pray for mankind's well-being. Upon awakening from the deeply meditative state many years later, some teardrops fell from his eyes to the earth and grew into the first rudraksha trees.
The holy seeds are the products of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus principle tree species along with many others kind of trees of the same genre. These seeds are dried and used as prayer beads, worn as a necklace or 'mala' by the hermits, saints and spiritually-inclined people. It is believed that these seeds have inherent magnetic and spiritual healing properties and protects the wearer from harm.
Types of Rudraksha
A rudraksha consists of the apex or 'Brahma' from where the indentations or 'mukhis' or the apex originates. The middle area or 'Vishnu' is the widest and the lines end at the bottom or 'Shiva'. Based on the all-powerful Hindu trinity God concept, the numbers of these naturally-occurring lines on the seed's surface defines the value and power of the seed. The seeds are available from one to twenty-one 'mukhis'; the five to fourteen-lined rudraksha are more commonly available, with the one to four-lined ones and any denomination higher than fifteen is progressively rarer. The naturally-occurring single-line or the 'ekmukhi' seed and the twenty one-lined are the rarest-occurring and the most highly valued ones and the five-lined or "Pancha Mukhi" is most commonly found seed.
Benefits of Rudraksha
There are several spiritual and physical benefits associated with rudraksha seeds. It is said that a person wearing the rare and powerful 'ekmukhi' seed will become a hermit or 'yogi' within a short span of time. He will be detached and aloof from the world and become a recluse. Some of the other benefits of that one may obtain from wearing rudraksha seeds is listed below.
  • Protection from sudden harmful incidents
  • Helps with memorization and taking decisions
  • Keeps blood pressure in check
  • Keeps the mind relaxed and de-stressed
  • Controls hypertension
  • Increases self-belief, confidence and concentration
  • Helps in controlling the astrologically bad effects of planets
  • Keeps the chakra energies balanced and heals ailments
Points to be Noted before Wearing Rudraksha
Rudraksha is a powerful organic spiritual medium with various benefits associated with wearing it. However, proper procedure needs to be followed to incur its full benefits. Some precautions before and during wearing such a seed are mentioned below for reference.
  • Take bath in the early morning hours
  • Keep the rudraksha beads away from metal or conductors
  • Wear it using a silk or cotton thread
  • Wash them with the water of the Ganges River
  • Keep it clean and dry

Fitness Center for Children

Fitness Center for Children Fitness Center for Children
By Lora Davis
Everyone needs to exercise, including children but unfortunately, not everyone does. Children today prefer to sit in front of a television playing video games instead going outside to play ball, ride bikes, etc. A fitness center for children is designed to help younger people stay in shape by exercising. Many times these particular fitness centers will have activities and special fitness equipment that are geared towards children. This equipment may include a trampoline, floors that are covered in foam mats, and even active video games. The purpose of these centers is to help children stay fit and reduce their risk of developing childhood obesity.
According to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), childhood obesity from 2007 to 2008 has increased 6.5% to 19.6% for children from the ages of six to eleven in the United States. In twelve months, childhood obesity has tripled. According to experts, it is recommended that children from the age of two should get at least thirty minutes every day of physical activity. This exercise can be enjoyable such as chasing and playing catch with the dog, playing in a playground, or anything that gets them up and moving. If your child is a couch potato who prefers video games, check out a fitness center for children.
In these centers, you may find exercise equipment that is designed for children but in many cases, there are organized activities that involve workshops and classes. A fitness center for children may have adopted parent participation classes. This will help the parents stay involved in the fitness education and fitness of their children.
Some of the special classes and activities that may be offered at a children's fitness center can include:
• Martial arts classes like karate
• Rock wall climbing
• Strength training
• Yoga
• Dance
• Cheerleading
• Gymnastics
• Basketball
• Supervised weight lifting for older children
They may also offer classes on motivation and nutrition. They may also have an achievement system that rewards the children for attaining certain achievements. A children's fitness center may also host a child's birthday where supervised fun activities for the children attending the party.
The fitness center not only offers something for children but it also offers something for the parents. Some fitness centers may offer a parent's night out once a month or even a fun night once a week. These events will usually average four hours giving the parents a chance to eat out, take in a movie, and more. During these times, the fitness center offers games and activities for fun but no set exercise programs. It is like a big party. Some of the activities may last an hour or two during regular hours so this also gives parents time to do things.

5 Reasons Why Knee Replacements Fail

5 Reasons Why Knee Replacements Fail 5 Reasons Why Knee Replacements Fail
By Emma Kalman
Today, due to the development of new surgical techniques and treatments, the accuracy of this procedure is increased and the recovery time is decreased.
However, not all surgical procedures have the desired outcome even though knee prosthesis is built to last for decades. Sometimes, due to various reasons, the replacement fails.
Signs and Symptoms
In most of the cases, you will feel knee pain, which is the most common warning sign that something is wrong. You may also notice swelling of the knee, reduced range of motion, knee stiffness and sometimes even inability to walk.
Why do knee replacements fail?
They can fail for various reasons.
With infection at the operation site or stiffness of the knee can cause loss of ability to move the knee leading to a knee replacement failure. The surrounding soft tissue can be so weak that it can no longer provide the necessary support for the new knee, making the prosthesis fail.
An injury to the replaced knee or bone fractures can lead to failures. In rare cases, the implants can wear out or loosen over the time, even though they are built to last.
In all these cases, a second replacement surgery is necessary and a new prosthesis will be built, if possible.
Loosening Implants
It can occur in cases when the patient is obese or performs high-impact activities in excess. Sometimes, though rare, the device can fail due to the manufacturer's faulty design. Loosening of the implant is the most common complications resulting from a faulty device.
This is more likely to occur when parts of the implant device start to separate from one another. Between the components, the soft tissue tends to grow, leading to knee pain, knee stiffness, etc.
Loosening of the knee implants is normal and it tends to occur with time. However, it does not occur for several years. In defect implants, loosening occurs within a year and sometimes within a couple of months.
Infections after Knee Replacement
One of the most serious complications following a knee replacement is infections. However, when performed by a professional and as needed, the chances of having an infection are very low.
Patients who undergo a surgical treatment for the second time, regardless of the reason, have a higher chance of getting an infection. Infections tend to develop quicker on the implanted knee as the implant does not have its own blood supply system. Thus, making it easier for microorganisms to attach to the device and infect the surrounding tissue.
In general, knee replacement infections are classified into three types:
  • Early infections - occur within the first 3 months after the surgical procedure.
  • Delayed infections - occur within 3 to 12 months after the surgical procedure.
  • Late infections - occur after 12 months, sometimes even years after the surgical procedure. These infections are mostly hematogenous, meaning that they spread from other locations in the human body. Patients who have knee prosthesis will need to take antibiotics before they undergo any surgical procedure, even dental work in order to prevent late infections of the knee implant.
Osteolysis
Osteolysis is a knee replacement complication which can lead to knee replacement failure. It occurs when particles are generated by the plastic pieces of the implant. These plastic pieces then enter the patient's immune system. The white blood cells will digest these foreign pieces, leading to a bone digestion. As a result, the bones are damaged and the implant will start to loosen, leading eventually to a knee replacement failure. Osteolysis is more common in cases where the implants are made of polyethylene.
Arthrofibrosis
Also known as joint stiffness is more likely to occur in obese patients or those suffering from diabetes and other chronic diseases. If after the surgery, a slow mobilization occurs, the risk for joint stiffness is higher.
Ligament Instability
This leads to knee instability and knee replacement failure. During surgery, ligaments are sometimes cut, damaged or even improperly balanced. This will make the knee skip away from one side to the other. As the ligaments heal, stability of the knee is gained. However, sometimes a knee brace might be required or even a second surgical treatment.
Don't hesitate to contact a Specialist as soon as you start noticing any of the above-mentioned signs and symptoms. They can indicate a knee replacement fail.

Non-Venomous Snake Bite

Non-Venomous Snake Bite Non-Venomous Snake Bite
By Suzanne Zacharia
You are probably reading this because you are not used to snakes. Those who live in hot climates where snakes are common already know what to do in case of any snake bite. And it is easy for the average person who does not live among snakes in nature nearby to assume that non-venomous snake bites are harmless. If so, here are some pointers from my recent experience.
First of all, it is important to recognize that the snake is a sentient being and has all the fears and reservations that any animal would have. Be careful if you handle them. Get expert advice first. And if the "expert" is handing you a snake to handle without advice, I would decline the offer. Not only can you get bitten, but the snake has feelings too and needs to be handled in a way that feels safe and comfortable.
Secondly, should you have done everything right but get bitten anyway, seek medical help straight away. But the snake is non-venomous, I may hear you say. Well, here is the interesting news. A bite from a snake (or any strange animal, for that matter) can deposit bacteria under your skin. Even if you wash your skin afterwards, there may be bacteria already lodged inside your skin that can cause havoc.
Thirdly, if you have handled snakes and not felt a sharp bite but maybe a tickle, do not assume you have not been bitten. I would have expected a snake biting my hand to have been excruciatingly painful, but it was not painful. It felt like a tickle. For me personally, symptoms only started to appear two days later. This added further confusion as to the cause, until I showed it to an African relative. Snake bite, she said. Then a person who keeps snakes as pets, whom I met purely by accident, also said the same.
There are a few ways to do this naturally, but trust me, I have tried the natural route and still ended up with a raging infection under the skin. It was misdiagnosed as contact dermatitis by one doctor, who gave me cortisone cream. When that only made the hand worse, I realized this was no allergic reaction. This is especially since I myself treat any allergy-like reaction, so really, why the symptoms if it were an allergy? Still, I took antihistamines and lots of painkillers whilst using natural antibacterials and disinfectants. But it was a very slow process. One morning, I got up after having forgotten the long-winded natural treatment the night before, and my hand was red, throbbing, and had lots of new blisters. Time to go to the doctor again. This time, I was finally taken seriously and given antibiotics. It is a very strong dosage and for longer than normal, so the situation must have been serious. I should have persisted and gone back for medical care earlier when the steroid cream made the hand worse. I should also have sought medical help as soon as symptoms appeared.
My advice is that if you think you have been bitten by a non-venomous snake, do not try to deal with it yourself but go and seek medical help as soon as possible.

Gelatin Uses and Benefits

Gelatin Uses and Benefits Gelatin Uses and Benefits
By Shalini Madhav
Gelatin is on the list of my supplements that I use on a daily basis. The reason is that it offers a host of uses and benefits. This article is focused on a few uses and benefits of gelatin. Read on.
Gelatin Uses and Benefits
According to Weston A. Price and Nourishing Traditions, Gelatin provides a lot of benefits for your health. For instance, some of the salient benefits of the product are discussed below:
It triggers nail, hair and skin growth
It helps you recover from joint problems
It can help you tighten your lose skin
It improves your digestive system and you will have easy bowl movements
It's an ideal source of powerful dietary collagen and protein
What is Gelatin?
Actually, Gelatin consists of glycine and proline. They are found in fibrous tissues, bones and other organs of animals. You need these amino acids in order to get proper growth of hair, nail and skin. This is all what you need in order to look good and catch the eyes of others.
Gelatin Benefits
It's important to note that Gelatin is part of formulas for improving joint health. When used, some people find immediate relief from joint pain. For a long time, the therapeutic effect of gelatin in arthritis was due to its powerful cartilage healing properties. The assumption was based on the fact that the tissue of joints have a lot of collagen. As a matter of fact, some of the gelatin that you consumed becomes part of the joint cartilage; however, the process is slow paced. But the good news is that you can get relief almost immediately.
Since the product can heal your stomach, we suggest that you add gelatin to your diet so you can get rid of allergies.
Why Should You Take Gelatin
Aside from the health benefits given above, Gelatin is good for nail, skin and hair growth. After a few days of use, you will see a considerable difference in the tone and smoothness of your skin.
Apart from these, it will give you additional collagen and protein. As a result, you will be able to absorb the minerals in a better way. So, if you have been struggling to hone your joint or skin health, we suggest that you go for Gelatin instead of other sources of protein, such as whey proteins. You can also add it to your food and drinks so you can absorb the nutrients in the best way.
Also, here it is important to note that the product works better if taken with properly cooked meats. As an alternative, you can have it on an empty stomach in order to promote Human Growth Hormone production.
Long story short, if you have been looking for an ideal source of both the amino acids mentioned above, we suggest that you give a go to Gelatin. You won't regret your decision as the product is safe to use. So, you will always be on the safest side.
Have you been looking for a good source of collagen protein? If so, we suggest that you take a look at gelatin Australia.

Stories of Hope - David Levy's Win Against a Rare Blood Disorder

Stories of Hope - David Levy's Win Against a Rare Blood Disorder Stories of Hope - David Levy's Win Against a Rare Blood Disorder
By Richa Verma
Doctors of the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System have successfully conducted a stem cell transplant to cure a rare blood disorder, named congenital dyserythropoietic anemia (CDA). It' a rare condition, in which the body does not create enough red blood cells, which leads to organ damage and even early death.
This is the story of David Levy, who started experiencing the unbearable pain of CDA when he was 24. The pain was so severe that he had to leave his studies. He stated, "I spent the following years doing nothing - no work, no school, no social contact -because all I could focus on was managing my pain and getting my health back on track."
David Levy used to receive regular blood transfusions for more than 30 years, so that his tissues and organs keep receiving enough oxygen. When he was 32, he lost his spleen and developed an enlarged lever. As the results of regular blood transfusions, he was suffering from other illnesses such as fatigue, palpitations, and iron poisoning. At last, a desperate David wrote to Dr. Damiano Rondelli, the Michael Reese Professor of Hematology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He recollected, "It was bad. I had been through enough pain. I was angry and depressed, and I wanted a cure. That's why I started emailing Dr. Rondelli."
Dr. Rondelli stated that many institutions had rejected the possibilities of stem cell transplant on Levy just because of his physical condition was not stable enough to agree to chemotherapy and radiation. But Rondelli performed transplant on Levy in 2014. He said, "This procedure gives some adults the option of a stem cell transplant which was not previously available."
He also stated that Levy's condition created the optimum situation for the transplant. He added, "For many adult patients with a blood disorder, treatment options have been limited because they are often not sick enough to qualify for a risky procedure, or they are too sick to tolerate the toxic drugs used alongside a standard transplant."
After the surgery, Levy, now 35, is back to his normal life, even though he still feels the pain. He is pursuing his doctorate in psychology and runs group therapies at a behavioral health hospital. He said, "The transplant was hard, and I had some complications, but I am back to normal now. I still have some pain and some lingering issues from the years my condition was not properly managed, but I can be independent now. That is the most important thing to me."
The specialty of the transplant is, no chemotherapy and radiation were administrated in order to prepare the body for the surgery. The process involves the donor's cells taking over the patient's bone marrow slowly to avoid usage of any toxic agents to discard the patient's cells. Rondelli said, "The protocol can be used even in patients with a long history of disease and some organ damage because of the minimal use of chemotherapy."
Rondelli believes that the procedure has a great potential to treat severe congenital anemias. He concluded "The use of this transplant protocol may represent a safe therapeutic strategy to treat adult patients with many types of congenital anemias - perhaps the only possible cure."
The story of David Levy truly evokes a raw of hope for many such patients!

Why Vitamin D or Lack of It May Be Contributing to or Causing Your Health Issues

Why Vitamin D or Lack of It May Be Contributing to or Causing Your Health Issues Why Vitamin D or Lack of It May Be Contributing to or Causing Your Health Issues
By Ronald Vaught
I'm sure by now everybody has heard of Vitamin D and how important it is for our overall health! If you haven't, please crawl out from under that rock for a moment so I can bring you up to speed! Most people, I'm hoping, are even supplementing with it daily (or they should be). Vitamin D is actually a not a vitamin at all but is a pro-hormone, as it can be manufactured in our body when we are exposed to light. Herein is where our problems arise. We get very little sunshine into our tissues on a regular basis nowadays. Many of us live at a latitude which predisposes us to sub-par sun exposure on our skin (where all the Vitamin D magic starts), or we are slathering on sunscreen for protection against the damaging effects of the sun, (like producing Vitamin D to keep us healthy) which halts our vitamin D conversion!
It turns out that about 40% of the global population is deficient in Vitamin D and over 70% of Americans are either deficient or insufficient in their vitamin D levels. The sunlight we are exposed to daily is our primary source of vitamin D and since we get very little from our diets, if we are not receiving that exposure on our skin, you can imagine how important supplementation now becomes. A deficiency of Vitamin D (a serum vitamin D 25-OH level less than 20 ng/dl) is linked to many chronic diseases, cancers, poor bone health, autoimmune diseases, neurocognitive issues like depression, mood stability and Alzheimer's disease. You can begin to see the importance of having adequate levels for our bodies to operate efficiently and without disease. We have a vitamin D receptor in nearly every single cell in our body and it is responsible for regulating over 3000 of our genes. So, you can understand the gravity of the situation. Unless you plan on sunbathing in the summer and taking vacations to sunbathe in the winter, your Vitamin D requirements might need some attention. I always tell my patients that they should know their vitamin D level. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin (OK, pro-hormone) that needs to be monitored. As with any fat soluble vitamin, toxicity can be an issue (although Vitamin D has a very broad range level of safety).
Where do we start? With a simple blood draw, inexpensive, not routinely done with the normal CBC or CMP, but can easily be added by asking your doctor. The test is serum Vitamin D 25-OH, and is one of the more important numbers you should know.
I had a patient who was suffering from crippling agoraphobia (she felt it unsafe to leave her home). What stood out the most from her blood work results was that her vitamin D 25-OH level was in the single digits at 7ng/dl. Very shortly after supplementing with Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) she had no anxiety, depression or mood instabilities, and her words were, "she felt like herself again"!
Vitamin D is one of the supplements I tell every one of my patients they should be taking regularly for their health. How much you may ask? Dosage depends on your serum blood levels. If you are deficient or insufficient in your Vitamin D levels, work with a practitioner to help monitor it and set your dosing appropriately. That being said, a very safe dosage that you may immediately start supplementing with (until you can have your blood levels checked) is a summertime dose of 5,000 I.U.s and wintertime dose of 7-10,000 I.U.s of vitamin D3. Everyone should be supplementing with some amount of Vitamin D for better health. If you need your levels checked or dosage customized, give us a call and we'll accommodate your needs.
Serum Vitamin D levels should be added to your typical blood draw panels that are routinely assessed for your yearly health. If you've haven't had your Vitamin D levels taken please contact us at http://www.wealliving.com and we can arrange for you to obtain your levels. Dr. Ronald Vaught, D.C. A Look At The Benefits Of Chiropractic Care

A Look At The Benefits Of Chiropractic Care A Look At The Benefits Of Chiropractic Care
By Juanita Swindell
The benefits of chiropractic care are well established today and people suffering from back and neck pain are increasingly seeking out this alternative treatment technique. Take a look at some of the more powerful benefits of chiropractic care:
Provides Effective Pain Relief
Several studies that have been done have established that chiropractic care can be more effective than medications when it comes to relieving lower or upper back pain or neck pain. It also works to treat the pain of sciatica, bulging disc and slipped disc.
Pain Management Without Drugs
As research throws up more and more evidence of the dangers of taking medication and prescription pills, we are becoming more conscientious about reducing our dependence of medication. Chiropractic provides the perfect alternative as it promotes a drug-free approach. Chiropractic focuses on treating the whole system holistically.
Low Risk Treatment
Conventional medicine uses prescription medication for mild back pain and surgery for more severe back pain. Both of these are high risk as medications can cause complicated adverse effects and surgery is invasive. With chiropractic adjustments the only side effect you can expect is a bit of soreness and in some cases fatigues. Very rarely are there any serious side effects.
Treats The Cause Of The Pain
Most medications merely help to manage the symptoms of pain but the cause of the pain still remains in the body. Painkillers may mask the pain in your upper or lower back but it does not cure the bulging disc. Chiropractic care on the other hand addresses the cause of the pain, which is more effective for long-term relief.
Treatments Can Be Customized Depending On Your Condition
Chiropractors make use of a wide range of tools and techniques to treat pain and other mobility issues. All of these techniques can be customized for your body shape and size and the location of your pain. If you let your chiropractor know the exact spot that is painful and the kind of pain, you will receive customized Chiropractic treatment.
Prevents Joint Dysfunction & Several Other Conditions
One of the greatest benefits of chiropractic care is that it reduces joint dysfunction, which could otherwise lead to symptoms in other parts of the body. Routine treatment can also prevent and treat several other health conditions, from headaches and migraines to menstrual disorders, fertility issues, gastrointestinal disorders and ear infection. Your chiropractor can help develop a customized treatment plan for you depending on your symptoms.

Kidney Failure - Causes, Symptoms and Transplant

Kidney Failure - Causes, Symptoms and Transplant Kidney Failure - Causes, Symptoms and Transplant
By Sejal Kakadiya
Kidneys have a number of important functions to perform in our bodies. Firstly, they filter the wastes from the bloodstream and help maintain the balance of electrolytes in the body. They remove the chemical and drug byproducts as well as the toxins from the blood stream. Further, all these substances are eliminated from the body along with excess water as urine. They also play an important role in secreting hormones that regulate the absorption of calcium from the food - thus improving your bone strength. Well they help in the production of red blood cells and regulate the amount of fluid in the circulatory system and hence are important when it comes to controlling blood pressure.
When the blood enters the kidneys, it is filtered in two steps. First through structures called glomeruli and second through a series of tubules called nephrons. The tubules perform a dual task. They remove the unwanted substances and also reabsorb the useful substances back into the blood.
So, what causes kidney failure?
There are a number of conditions that could contribute to kidney damage. Some are primary kidney diseases and some are other conditions that indirectly affect the kidney. Here are a few causes:
When a kidney is damaged to an extent that it cannot function normally, it caused kidney failure.
Kidney failure can happen rapidly or slowly. Rapid failure, or acute kidney failure as it is called, is usually in response to another illness in the body that impacts the kidneys. If the underlying cause can be treated or controlled in time, kidney failure can be prevented. Slow failures happen in response to a chronic disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
In some cases, kidney disease is hereditary
Infections and substances such as drugs can permanently scar the kidneys and lead to failure.
It is most commonly seen that people with the following conditions are at a greater than normal risk of developing kidney related problems.
Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
High blood pressure - especially when not controlled in time.
 Liver disease
 Heart disease
 Inherited kidney diseases
Those taking a lot of antibiotics
Most common symptoms to look out for:
The symptoms for kidney failure vary widely depending on the cause of the kidney failure. These symptoms also depend upon the severity of the condition and the other parts of the body that are affected.
It is important to note that most people do not show any symptoms at all - especially in the early stages of the disease. Some display very subtle or mild symptoms that are very difficult to catch. The most obvious symptoms appear only when the condition becomes severe or even critical. Kidney failure is not painful - even when severe. However, watch out for dehydration, fluid retention, urinating less than usual or nausea, vomiting or pale skin.
Kidney transplant is considered as a viable treatment where the non working kidneys are replaced with healthy kidneys from another person. Your doctor will conduct a series of tests to ensure that you have a kidney that matches the criteria and will evaluate your surgical and medical history before the surgery.

Green and Growing For Health & Well-Being

Green and Growing For Health & Well-Being Green and Growing For Health & Well-Being
By Michelle J Stewart
I've written earlier posts about stress and the importance of reducing it. By adding indoor plants to your household, you can lower the stress you may feel. Research studies have shown that the ability to see greenery in the indoor environment can reduce stress in minutes. A green plant in your sight line is a lot better for calming your stress level than soothing it with caffeine, food or alcohol.
During photosynthesis, plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen which can improve air quality. When photosynthesis stops at night, most plants flip the script, absorbing oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide. However there are a few plants that release oxygen at night which can aid in maintaining air quality, improving quality of sleep and reducing insomnia. Plants that have this characteristic include orchids, succulents such as aloe vera, jade or Christmas cactus plants, and bromeliads.
Indoor plants can help increase focus and creativity by allowing your directed attention to rest and renew. Consider that when you are out doors in the park, your senses are stimulated and engaged with the trees, leaves, or flowers. As these plants capture your attention effortlessly or via undirected attention, your directed attention which is used to focus on specific tasks is relaxed and resting. Bringing plants and flowers indoors duplicates the experience which allows directed attention to renew. Research studies show that tasks performed while under the calming influence of nature are performed better and with greater accuracy, yielding higher quality results.
In addition to the above, it has been noted that plants in the rooms of patients have had a beneficial effect on patient well-being and health. Researchers at Kansas State University found that patients in rooms with plants had a quicker recovery than those in rooms without them. In comparison to those in rooms sans plants, the patients with plants in their rooms were less fatigued and anxious, requested less pain medication, had lower heart rates and blood pressure, and were discharged from the hospital sooner.
There are a lot of benefits to adding green plants to your indoor furnishings. Plants are easy to locate, available in numerous varieties and an excellent value for the health benefits they provide. The biggest challenge may be choosing the best options for your location and lifestyle along the plant care spectrum. As a Floridian, my number one pick is the Peace Lily.
