Boobs and Why Men Love Them

Boobs and Why Men Love Them Boobs and Why Men Love Them
By Hita Prem
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) wondered, "I mean seriously, they are just breasts. Every second person in the world has them." Exactly, every second person in the world has them. Your mother, your aunt, your grandmother, your teacher, Bruce Jenner... Oops! Caitlyn Jenner. Anyway, The underlying point is, breasts are not a big deal. They are just round, bouncy, fat that are like drooping extras on the female anatomy. Nothing breathtaking about it.
But, we have to face it. Men are hardwired to worship them. Straight men and particular women of course. Apart from the sexual impression breasts have, the question of the hour is, Would they love boobs if there was something wrong with it? No, not breast cancer.
  1. Polymastia (Accessory breasts): A more scientific name would be mammae erraticae. Apart from the movie fiction fans, there have been reported cases of polymastia since the 15th Century. Here is another added surprise. These extra mammary glands are not always located on the chest. A woman named, Therese Ventre of Marseilles, France, had an extra nipple on her thigh. When she reached puberty, it too matured. She became pregnant and was able to supply milk through them. That's right. Milk through her breasts, located on her thighs.
  2. Nippleless Breasts: It is not a documented condition as such, but it is definitely a craze amongst a few. Having one's nipples removed surgically is something the doctors have to be put through. In a more philosophical approach, a few of those with breast cancer have this condition as well. Having a perfectly smooth, round breasts are something a few women dream of, though. But to be frank, nipples are the best part of a scintillating chest. Right men?
  3. The Largest: In the elaborate study done in 2013, men who love big breasts are financially insecure. In that case, those who are in love with Annie Hawkins-Turner are going to go hell-bent and homeless. She has officially broken all records. With a measure of 72 inches all around and 43 inches under-bust, with a bra size of 48V, she holds the record for the World's Largest Natural Breasts. Guessing all of her friends might be chiropractors. No offence Annie. You Go, Girl!
  4. Gynecomastia: They are also known as man boobs. It is self-explanatory. But the weird fact is, there are a few men who get it done surgically. Straight men, as a matter of fact. A man named Adam Carolla, from New York, got his own pair of beauties because he could not find a girlfriend. No comments man. Whatever works for you. You just keep doing what you got to do.
  5. Paget's Disease: A malignant breast disease that involves the change in skin and nipples. At first, the skin develops a rash, like eczema. Later on, bloody or straw tinted discharge. The nipple may turn inwards.

So, back to the question of the hour. Are breasts still extremely sexy and interesting even if they aren't perfect? Ask yourself that question and then maybe we can ogle at beautiful women with their massive mammary glands.

Finding the Right Provider for Site Management Research and Testing

Finding the Right Provider for Site Management Research and Testing Finding the Right Provider for Site Management Research and Testing
By Nicholas Focil
SMO clinical research is vital to the various pharmaceutical companies out there as well as many other businesses. The value they offer though can be compromised if you don't have a great provider in place. Don't pick one at random and don't pick one based on them offering you the lowest price. You need to have safeguards in place and evaluate the reputation of such an entity.
The resources they bring to the table can be very valuable to your program and the desired outcomes you are after. They should be credible and they should be able to offer you detailed reports on the outcomes they have experienced with the testing and research. You can hire a SMO clinical research to run a particular clinical trial for you from start to finish.
Recruiting
At the start of the process, there has to be a method in place for recruiting. This is how potential participants will learn about the clinical trial. They will have the option to submit an application if they meet certain criteria. It is important for the criteria to be very detailed and shared so that it weeds out those who aren't a good match.
For example, the study may be looking for those in a particular age group or with a certain health concern. The types of filers used for the recruiting can often influence how it is advertised and the types of outreach that are put in motion to get enough of a pool to select candidates from.
Enrollment
Part of the early stages of SMO clinical research involve time spent with the enrollment process. They will go through the applicants and select those that do meet the requirements. Next, they will contact them and may do a phone or face to face interview. Those who are asked to go through the process will need to be informed of what will take place and any compensation.
The SMO clinical research needs to reach out to those who showed an interest and explain to them what the study is all about. They need to answer any questions they may have too because people who feel skeptical or unsure aren't going to follow through with it. Enrollment is higher when those participating are well informed.
Data Management
Every part of the research has to be carefully handled. The data management is an essential part of SMO clinical research. They have to show everything was done in compliance with the laws and regulations. They also have to show the information for the control group and those in the test group. If the data is compromised, the entire testing and research is also compromised.
The data needs to remain confidential so the SMO clinical research company has a responsibility to have such safeguards in place. They need to make sure the personal details of those involved aren't compromised. They can compile data without naming the subjects individually. Find out what measures they will take for your particular needs to protect them.
Quality Setting
The company has to show they have a quality setting and the right processing for every stage of the research. They have to show they have qualified employees in place and they need to continue to train on best practices. This is job too large and too important to put into the hands of just any company. Make sure you hire a seasoned business with plenty to offer to you.
When all of the pieces of the puzzle fit, you can get a great research project under way. You can count on it to be done correctly. The results can be reported to you and the information can be deemed as credible.

Controls and Credibility Are Essential for Testing

Controls and Credibility Are Essential for Testing

Controls and Credibility Are Essential for Testing
By Nicholas Focil

The information gathered from clinical trials and clinical research is often used to help verify details and to help continue to move forward various concepts. The information can be used to conclude a product is too risky for humans to use due to the long-term effects. Other times, it can open up a new opportunity by verifying a product helps reduce symptoms and helps people.

It can be a long process to get the initial concept to the clinical trials and clinical research stages thought. There is plenty of paperwork that has to be completed and plenty of controls that must be in place. Complying with legal issues is part of the struggles and you also have to look at the ethical elements. It can be a complex web of information to sift through to make sure it is all legal.

Finding the right participants for clinical trials and clinical research also plays a role in the outcome. At the same time, those involved in the process have to be unbiased in all of it. They have to be objective so they don't corrupt the outcomes - either accidentally or intentionally. This can undermine the entire operation and it can result in your company losing funding.

The Right Methods

In order for the outcomes to be credible and to continue being built upon, they must be done correctly. The right methods have to be put forth for that type of clinical trials and clinical research to be successful. This can be time consuming and at times it can be expensive. Yet it is an investment that helps to get results and to continue moving forward with science.

Who you hire to take care of the various phases of your clinical trials and clinical research makes a significant impact on the outcomes. You need to learn all you can about that provider to verify their methods, their credibility, and the credentials they have in place. You need to spend time talking to them to see if they can take on the needs of your specific type of study.

If anything is compromised, the entire clinical trials and clinical research relating to that subject matter won't be credible. The time, money, and effort involved with it will be all for nothing. You have to make sure you have the right foundation in place from the beginning. You also need to make sure you have the right provider on your team to work with.

Such a provider can help you with getting the right samples in place for the test. This includes the test group and your control group. You may not have experience on how to randomly pick or how to get specific criteria met. However, they are experts in this type of filtering so they are able to get the ball rolling correct from the very beginning of your process.

Documentation and Reports

The outcomes should be provided to you with detailed documentation and reports. It is important to outline with the provider when you will get such information. It should be at regular intervals through the duration of the studies. The information needs to be very detailed and it needs to be easy to understand.

The results of such information can help you to decide what you would like to do. This can include the decision to move forward with additional testing and studies, to end the research due to the outcomes, or to modify options and try a new path. Such information is very important and you need to know the provider is going to make it a top priority to delivery correctly.

We are dedicated to clinical research efforts to help offer information for pharmaceutical companies. Six Tips for Finding a New Physician

Six Tips for Finding a New Physician Six Tips for Finding a New Physician
By Anna Woodward
For many people, finding a new physician can be a difficult task, especially if they've recently moved. While they can always turn to their friends and family for recommendations or speak to their current practice, finding someone they feel comfortable establishing a relationship with can be daunting. Here are a few things to consider when starting the hunt for a new general practitioner.
Call the Insurance Company
For individuals with active insurance policies, it's best to contact a service representative to discuss which doctors are covered under their policy. Working with practitioners outside of their coverage network often leads to increased costs and reduced insurance coverage for prescribed treatments. The insurance provider will have a list of local practices that are covered under each policy and can provide recommendations.
Look at Specialists
While a general practitioner may be able to treat most conditions, they are not always specialists in specific conditions. If a patient has a pre-existing medical diagnosis or was seeing a specialist before moving, they may want to look for a similar practice in the area. Calling their former physician for a recommendation is always one of the best places to start.
Consider Hours of Availability
Life gets busy and finding time to make it to a doctor's appointment is not easy. For individuals with kids or a demanding work schedule, it's important to find a physician with hours that can accommodate their availability. Some practices offer early morning appointment times or extended walk-in hours for last minute non-emergency treatment. However, other practices are only open on certain days of the week or during very limited hours.
Ask for Their Qualifications
Not all medical schools carry the same reputation. Before becoming a regular patient, it's important to ask for the doctor's qualifications. Find out where they received their medical degree and any additional training. While the prestige of their medical school should not be the sole deciding factor, it can help narrow down a list of potential healthcare professionals.
Research Their Practice
The internet is a great way to gauge a physician's reputation. Online review sites like Yelp and Facebook can provide insight into patient satisfaction while the Better Business Bureau often sheds light on any billing complications or legal actions taken against the practice. A doctor could be worth consideration if people are leaving positive reviews.
Don't Be Afraid to Visit a Few Practices
Visiting a doctor to gauge their bedside manner is perhaps the easiest way to make a decision. This gives patients a chance to get to know the doctor and find out if they like their personality. It's important to find a practice where a patient feels comfortable enough to discuss their medical condition openly. If a doctor or their support staff makes them feel uneasy or nervous when talking about their symptoms, it's best to keep looking.

Step Outside of Your Usual Rut

Step Outside of Your Usual Rut Step Outside of Your Usual Rut
By Irene Roth
We all get into sulks and ruts. And this is especially the case for chronically-ill individuals who experience a lot of pain and fatigue all the time. Life just seems to carry on in a monotonous fashion, with nothing ever being different.
One of the best ways to get out of the rut of the usual and monotonous is to take steps to change things up a bit. You may want to take on a new habit. Or, go out with a new friend for a while. Or, pick up the phone and call someone that you wouldn't try before.
When everything that we do is the same, our life can seem like a prison of sorts, where everything follows exactly the same patterns to the minute.
So, here are a few things that you could do to change things up for yourself:
1. Plan to do something different once a week. Schedule it into your planner so that it happens.
2. Buy something nice for yourself that will put a smile on your face-that could be a bouquet of flowers or get some new nail polish.
3. Give yourself a new manicure.
4. Go for a pedicure.
5. Buy one new garment for yourself-something that puts a smile on your face.
6. Read a book that is inspiring and that puts a smile on your face.
7. Take a course or workshop to improve your life.
8. Go for a walk-even if it is a short one-if you get a beautiful day. By walking once a day even for a few minutes you will feel more alive and inspired.
9. Go to the movies-either alone or with a friend. Just don't go with any family members-people you are always with.
10. Ask a friend if she would like to join you for a coffee. If not, go for a coffee yourself to your favorite spot. Sit in a comfy chair and enjoy your coffee, sip by sip.
11. Become proactive with your health-if you don't feel well take it easy. Don't push yourself past your pain. This will help you to feel more alive and inspired.
12. Avoid stress as much as this is possible.
13. Accept things more-even if things are awful!
14. Smile often, even if it is for no apparent reason.
15. Groom yourself-look good and take steps to feel good.
By taking these steps, you will feel better and get out of the rut of the usual and mundane.
Individuals who do this find that they feel better, experience less pain, sleep better, and feel more in control of their illness. Now that is a winning combination to living well.

Air Quality, Mold & Your Mitochondria

Air Quality, Mold & Your Mitochondria Air Quality, Mold & Your Mitochondria
By Rex Murphy
Nearly every home and office has some degree of indoor air pollution. Poor indoor air quality is widespread enough for the EPA to put out a statement recently placing poor indoor air quality in the top five major health threats we face today. That's huge. More specifically, most homes and offices have mold and mold spores as part of the mix of pollutants. Mold is not only a very strong carcinogen, but along with increased allergy and asthma symptoms, the mycotoxins produced by mold spores cause a variety of health problems when mold spores are inhaled. And recently, many of those health problems are being found to be connected to how these mycotoxins damage the mitochondria in all of our cells. This makes getting rid of mold and filtering the air of primary importance if your goal is optimal health for yourself and your family.
Why do we have mold in so many homes and offices? It's primarily the result of two things: excess moisture and indoor air conditioners. Mold spores are literally everywhere. And when an air conditioner has a coil that cools by condensing and evaporating water from a coil the blowing air across it, mold spores easily find the moisture they need to reproduce, along with other organic material (dust and other things) that settle on the coil and create a great environment for mold (and bacterial) growth. Then, every time the AC turns on, it blows some of the mold spores out into the ducts polluting them, and out into the rooms of your home or office, polluting the air you breathe every day.
And that's just the effect of an air conditioning system polluting the air. If you have any weather damage or other water damage in the home or building, mold will set up and grow there, as well, allowing mold spores to become airborne. And no, even the best AC filters aren't enough to stop mold spores--most of them are too small and pass right through, and some debris stuck to the inside of the ducts blows out of the vents and you breathe that before it can be recirculated back through the AC to have the filter remove some of it. And... a UV light will help kill airborne bacteria and mold, but doesn't trap anything, leaving the tiny particles in the air to cause reactions.
This is why it is vital to actually filter the air in your home and office with one or more portable air purifiers in the rooms where you spend time, ideally. Portable air purifiers are better because they will grab what's in the air in your room or office before you can breathe those pollutants. This prevents the mold spores from settling on our skin and prevents them from being inhaled. preventing a variety of health problems--and mitochondrial damage. If you want some really good information on mold and how bad the problem really is, check out Dave Asprey's documentary on YouTube called Moldy. And for some very in-depth and usable information on how mold and other things affect our mitochondria, check out his groundbreaking new book 'HeadStrong'. It is an incredible book on the subject of mitochondria.
Bottom line for preventing mold and the health issues it causes is to 1) make sure to fix any leaks or other sources of excess moisture in the home or building, keeping the indoor humidity at 35-45% maximum. Any higher than that is enough to feed mold and bacterial growth. 2) be sure to filter the air in your home or office with a quality portable air cleaner with medical HEPA and quality activated carbon. This will remove the majority of any airborne mold spores, dust mites, chemicals, and other pollutants we don't need to breathe.
As always, we hope this information helps you and those you love live a healthier, happier life.

Your Doctor Just Prescribed Kidney Failure Treatment - Now What?

Your Doctor Just Prescribed Kidney Failure Treatment - Now What? Your Doctor Just Prescribed Kidney Failure Treatment - Now What?
By Morris Raymond
You've just been told that your kidneys are no longer working the way they need to be, and as such, you're now in need of treatment to essentially keep you alive. The good news is that you have options, and the idea of kidney failure treatment proves to be a rather hopeful ray of light during an otherwise dark time in your life.
Oddly enough, it tends to be the psychological aspect of hearing bad news about your health that can weigh heavily on a patient & his or her family. How did this happen? When did it happen? Did I do this? Why is this happening to me/us? Questions abound, and without many answers, it is easy to see why so many patients facing kidney failure can sink into a lull if not a full depression.
Though better said than done, however, it's important for the patient and his or her family to face the news with a plan. Answers to tough questions will come, but right now, you need to devise a way to move forward & seek treatment based on your doctor's recommendations. In fact, what is needed is a decidedly strong-willed nature & a commitment to provide the best environment for your treatment.
Think about it. When you get sick with some sniffles and a little cough, depending on your mental approach to the symptoms, you can either feel a little "off" or absolutely out-for-the-count ill with no chance for recovery. Your mental strength plays an important role in your health, and as such, your kidney failure treatment requires the following from you and those around you:
- following your treatment schedule
- following a special diet
- taking any, and all, the medications prescribed for you
It must be stated, though, that you need to know what exactly is going on inside of you. It is important to maintain an open and honest relationship with your doctor. Before the treatment schedules, diets, and medications, ask your doctor to explain where you are based on stages of the progression of your kidney failure. By better understanding what it is your body is doing, you will be better able to grasp that your treatment is aimed at helping you maintain a productive life even while in the midst of major organ failure.
Your doctor will indicate that you will either need dialysis or an organ transplant. You should talk about the pros and cons of each treatment option with your family & with their input and the advice of your doctor, choose the option that fits best.
Though it is a bit of a darker way of looking at your prognosis, you need to keep in mind that even though you have treatment options, treatment does not mean a cure. There is work to be done on the horizon, but with that said, kidney failure treatment is a reason to feel optimistic about the road ahead for both you and your loved ones.

Considering Cool Sculpting

Considering Cool Sculpting Considering Cool Sculpting
By Salvatore Soulliere
A thing you need that many individuals always seem to struggle with is excess fat. It is usually more difficult to lose fat in several zones of the body even if you happen to be on a nutritious and exercise regimen. This can result in many individuals looking at options like surgery together with other similar procedures to eradicate the excess fat. One procedure that is rising in popularity now involving this is Cool Sculpting, and you may read more about this method below.
This non-surgical procedure is meant to scale back fat in particular areas of the body via controlled cooling. It is at the moment FDA-cleared in the United States to be used on areas of the body that include the thighs, abdomen, under the chin, back, sides, and by the buttocks. Additionally it is come in several countries, but each one has their very own restrictions for the areas of the human body that they may use it on.
This process is for eliminating fat cells. For many that have lost excess weight or are while in process of losing weight, the amounts of fat cells in the body can decrease, and even though you might even see areas shrinking, many do not. It is considered that humans have a fixed variety of fat cells that only change size rather than quantity through weight loss and gain. This technique helps "sculpt" the system to the desired configuration by reducing the actual number of fat cells, hence the name.
You must understand that not everyone qualifies for this procedure. Normally, it is supposed for those within 30 pounds or thereabouts of their total target weight with stubborn fat in the areas approved for treatment. The only way to know should you be eligible sure is to get conferring with a specialist. In the event you qualify, then they craft a process on which area or important aspects to treat, along with how many treatments are required, and what should be done and expect for healing and beyond.
The steps involves the sufferer lying down while specialist places a cooling device situated on the chosen area or areas. The cooling work to only target fats cells in the world while leaving the surrounding tissues alone. Fats cells eventually shrink and collapse leading to other cells naturally consuming them so that they do not redistribute to other areas of the body. For the reason that cells are frozen after which eaten by other cells, the outcome is usually noticed within 1 to 3 months and therefore are presupposed to be long-lasting.
While considered a safe alternative to other surgical treatments, some patients may experience side effects. Many are mild and range from skin irritation to bruising to tightness and pulling. Jobs done across the chin may cause a feeling of fullness behind the throat. If these symptoms persist otherwise you encounter some serious unwanted side effects, you should see your health care provider right away.
As you can see, there are various benefits to the steps known as Cool Sculpting. It is considered a safer option instead of surgical treatments to get rid of stubborn fat and sculpt our bodies of your dreams. However, like every procedure, make sure to speak with your doctor first to view if this happens to be a secure choice for you.

Hygiene in Nineteenth Century America

Hygiene in Nineteenth Century America Hygiene in Nineteenth Century America
By Charles Waters
In August 1879 a young Robert Louis Stevenson boarded the immigrant train in New York, bound for Chicago. The middle class Scot was journeying to meet his American true love, Fanny Osborne. His parents, unamused by the union, refused to fund his journey. In love but suddenly impecunious, the young author was forced to travel in economy class. His daily life for the next few weeks is one that most nineteenth century Americans would have recognised.
This is a world, Robert chronicled, that was intimately communal. He soon became accustomed each morning to unfurling his stiff limbs from the bench next to his fellow travellers. His ears became attuned to the dawn chorus of coughing, sneezing and spitting rippling down the carriage. His educated brain tried to suppress thoughts of cholera, tuberculosis and diphtheria. An enclosed environment such as this was the perfect breeding ground for these and other potentially lethal diseases.
The 'rancid stench,' as he graphically put it, of his fellow travellers was impossible to ignore. Like everyone else, Robert wore the same clothes for days. The cowboy could blend with the smell of animal and leather, but on a train there was nowhere to hide.
He could at least cleanse the body. But these were the days before hot piping water at the twist of a tap. All water onboard had to be stored and drawn from a water filter in one corner of the carriage. A hot bath was a luxury most Americans experienced once a month and one Robert would enjoy at his journey's end. Until then a wash meant a perfunctory sluice using soap, flannel and tin wash basin bought from the newsboy onboard. Once refreshed, these utensils would be recycled by his fellow travellers. For those without much, sharing was a common currency.
No one, not even the rich and powerful in First Class, could disguise bodily odours with the deodorants we take for granted today. Ancient Egyptian women are said to have poured globules of perfumed wax over their heads, or applied porridge to the more sensitive areas of their body. These and other exotic remedies were lost to history. Robert and most Americans would have to wait until 1888 before they could dab on the first commercial deodorant.
Before returning to his seat, Robert might run a comb through his matted hair. Washing out the lice and grime could wait until he found a barber. The ladies on board would also bide their time. Brushed hair was more important; the monthly hair wash, perhaps with one of the available powder shampoo and conditioner, could wait until they arrived at their destination. No one rushed to use the available bar soap made of Sodium Hydroxide. This could be very hard on the hair and needed something equally basic, such as vinegar, to rinse it out.
Settling back into his seat, the young Scot might engage in conversation with his neighbours. This, he quickly discovered, could be hazardous. Oral hygiene was not a high priority in the nineteenth century. Fresh breath, clean gums and sparkling white teeth, much prized in Ancient Greece and Rome, were not common.
They might have washed their mouth out with baking soda, salt or even soap. If Robert was very lucky, they used a tooth powder like the one advertised in the Dodge City Times of 1879, containing, amongst other things, charcoal and bark. As would the cowboy by the campfire, running a cursory finger across his gums with cold ash from the embers. Robert, like us, might have recoiled at the thought of sharing the communal toothbrush available at public eateries and wagon stations. Everyone prayed fervently that they didn't need a tooth removed. In a world that was totally unregulated, where dentists didn't exist, that meant going in search of tradesmen with the means to extract. Your friendly barber, for example.
One bodily function Robert shared with no one was relief of his bowels. Onboard toilet facilities did not become available until the end of the nineteenth century. He, like everyone else, had to hold on until the train stopped. As they alighted from the train, they were advised to hold their nose. The stench from waste, human and otherwise, would have been appalling. The cowboy in the wilds of Texas or Montana enjoyed cleaner air. It is no accident that the Native Indians regularly moved camp. They weren't merely following the Bison. They were escaping the human detritus that accumulates in any human encampment.
A bustling city like Chicago could boast the latest mains sewerage system. But Robert and his contemporaries would have to wait until 1907 before sampling the first flush toilet. The cowboy could simply disappear into the bushes with a corn cob or clump of grass. Young Robert perhaps sampled Joseph C. Gayetty's packaged toilet paper, pre-moistened sheets medicated with aloe. More likely he recycled a few sheets torn from a Sears catalogue - perhaps a few sheets of the humorous spin-off, 'Rears and Sorbutt'.

Glowing Stem Cells Help Scientists Understand How Cells Work

Glowing Stem Cells Help Scientists Understand How Cells Work Glowing Stem Cells Help Scientists Understand How Cells Work
By Richa Verma
It's tough to see the underlying problems with naked eyes, when everything is going on smoothly. As soon as something goes wrong, we notice it, no matter how old the issue has been there. Human body is no different. Scientists are only able to study the cells, once they start acting weird. But the fact remains, if they get the access to study the healthy cells, they can contribute a lot to figure out how normal cells work and what it might take to keep them healthy.
The Allen Institute for Cell Science scientists have exactly done that. They invented a new technology in order to genetically alter human stem cells, so that they glow! Yes, you heard it right. The gene-editing technology is called CRISPR/Cas9. The ultimate goal of the research team of the Allen Institute was to help researchers figure out how good-conditioned cells work and what happens when they start doing unwell.
The scientists inserted a genetic code into the cord tissue cells, so that they create fluorescent coloured proteins in the nucleus as well as in the mitochondria of the cells. When they tried to observe the stem cells under a fluorescent microscope, they found them glowing. The process promises a tool to study how human stem cells work in various organs.
Ruwanthi Gunawardane, The director of stem cells at the Allen Institute said, "We're trying to understand how the cell behaves, how it functions, but flooding it with some external protein can really mess it up", he added, "the CRISPR system allows us to go into the DNA-the blueprint-and insert a gene that allows the cell to express the protein in its normal environment. Then, through live imaging, we can watch the cell and understand how it works."
The process of making the stem cells illuminated may sound easy but it required the team to run through several methods to finally come up with the full-proof tool. Previous experiments showed the cells flooded with fluorescent proteins and the results were unclear images.
The gene-edited cord tissue cells can be used in a number of cases starting from improving on the regeneration process in organs and tissues to monitoring and treating drug users. However, the Allen Institute scientists have already started implementing them to study heart conditions. They used the illuminated stem cell lines to understand how differently stem cells act in heart tissues. They have introduced familiar disease-causing changes to the stem cells in order to know the dissimilarities between the healthy and unhealthy circulatory systems.
Rick Horwitz, the executive director of the Allen Institute for Cell Science said, "The number of scientists doing basic biology with cord tissue cells is low, but the interest in using them to create disease-in-a-dish models is growing explosively. We think these cells will greatly enable that work." He truly believes that gene editing will become one of the most popular tools in stem cells medical research.
The team has already built 5 types of glowing cell lines and has plans to create 20 stem cell lines by the end of 2017. Each cell line would be unique and would come with a unique cellular pattern. The genetically edited cells are available to scientists around the world.

Fitness Center for Children

Fitness Center for Children Fitness Center for Children
By Lora Davis
Everyone needs to exercise, including children but unfortunately, not everyone does. Children today prefer to sit in front of a television playing video games instead going outside to play ball, ride bikes, etc. A fitness center for children is designed to help younger people stay in shape by exercising. Many times these particular fitness centers will have activities and special fitness equipment that are geared towards children. This equipment may include a trampoline, floors that are covered in foam mats, and even active video games. The purpose of these centers is to help children stay fit and reduce their risk of developing childhood obesity.
According to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), childhood obesity from 2007 to 2008 has increased 6.5% to 19.6% for children from the ages of six to eleven in the United States. In twelve months, childhood obesity has tripled. According to experts, it is recommended that children from the age of two should get at least thirty minutes every day of physical activity. This exercise can be enjoyable such as chasing and playing catch with the dog, playing in a playground, or anything that gets them up and moving. If your child is a couch potato who prefers video games, check out a fitness center for children.
In these centers, you may find exercise equipment that is designed for children but in many cases, there are organized activities that involve workshops and classes. A fitness center for children may have adopted parent participation classes. This will help the parents stay involved in the fitness education and fitness of their children.
Some of the special classes and activities that may be offered at a children's fitness center can include:
• Martial arts classes like karate
• Rock wall climbing
• Strength training
• Yoga
• Dance
• Cheerleading
• Gymnastics
• Basketball
• Supervised weight lifting for older children
They may also offer classes on motivation and nutrition. They may also have an achievement system that rewards the children for attaining certain achievements. A children's fitness center may also host a child's birthday where supervised fun activities for the children attending the party.
The fitness center not only offers something for children but it also offers something for the parents. Some fitness centers may offer a parent's night out once a month or even a fun night once a week. These events will usually average four hours giving the parents a chance to eat out, take in a movie, and more. During these times, the fitness center offers games and activities for fun but no set exercise programs. It is like a big party. Some of the activities may last an hour or two during regular hours so this also gives parents time to do things.

5 Reasons Why Knee Replacements Fail

5 Reasons Why Knee Replacements Fail 5 Reasons Why Knee Replacements Fail
By Emma Kalman
Today, due to the development of new surgical techniques and treatments, the accuracy of this procedure is increased and the recovery time is decreased.
However, not all surgical procedures have the desired outcome even though knee prosthesis is built to last for decades. Sometimes, due to various reasons, the replacement fails.
Signs and Symptoms
In most of the cases, you will feel knee pain, which is the most common warning sign that something is wrong. You may also notice swelling of the knee, reduced range of motion, knee stiffness and sometimes even inability to walk.
Why do knee replacements fail?
They can fail for various reasons.
With infection at the operation site or stiffness of the knee can cause loss of ability to move the knee leading to a knee replacement failure. The surrounding soft tissue can be so weak that it can no longer provide the necessary support for the new knee, making the prosthesis fail.
An injury to the replaced knee or bone fractures can lead to failures. In rare cases, the implants can wear out or loosen over the time, even though they are built to last.
In all these cases, a second replacement surgery is necessary and a new prosthesis will be built, if possible.
Loosening Implants
It can occur in cases when the patient is obese or performs high-impact activities in excess. Sometimes, though rare, the device can fail due to the manufacturer's faulty design. Loosening of the implant is the most common complications resulting from a faulty device.
This is more likely to occur when parts of the implant device start to separate from one another. Between the components, the soft tissue tends to grow, leading to knee pain, knee stiffness, etc.
Loosening of the knee implants is normal and it tends to occur with time. However, it does not occur for several years. In defect implants, loosening occurs within a year and sometimes within a couple of months.
Infections after Knee Replacement
One of the most serious complications following a knee replacement is infections. However, when performed by a professional and as needed, the chances of having an infection are very low.
Patients who undergo a surgical treatment for the second time, regardless of the reason, have a higher chance of getting an infection. Infections tend to develop quicker on the implanted knee as the implant does not have its own blood supply system. Thus, making it easier for microorganisms to attach to the device and infect the surrounding tissue.
In general, knee replacement infections are classified into three types:
  • Early infections - occur within the first 3 months after the surgical procedure.
  • Delayed infections - occur within 3 to 12 months after the surgical procedure.
  • Late infections - occur after 12 months, sometimes even years after the surgical procedure. These infections are mostly hematogenous, meaning that they spread from other locations in the human body. Patients who have knee prosthesis will need to take antibiotics before they undergo any surgical procedure, even dental work in order to prevent late infections of the knee implant.
Osteolysis
Osteolysis is a knee replacement complication which can lead to knee replacement failure. It occurs when particles are generated by the plastic pieces of the implant. These plastic pieces then enter the patient's immune system. The white blood cells will digest these foreign pieces, leading to a bone digestion. As a result, the bones are damaged and the implant will start to loosen, leading eventually to a knee replacement failure. Osteolysis is more common in cases where the implants are made of polyethylene.
Arthrofibrosis
Also known as joint stiffness is more likely to occur in obese patients or those suffering from diabetes and other chronic diseases. If after the surgery, a slow mobilization occurs, the risk for joint stiffness is higher.
Ligament Instability
This leads to knee instability and knee replacement failure. During surgery, ligaments are sometimes cut, damaged or even improperly balanced. This will make the knee skip away from one side to the other. As the ligaments heal, stability of the knee is gained. However, sometimes a knee brace might be required or even a second surgical treatment.
Don't hesitate to contact a Specialist as soon as you start noticing any of the above-mentioned signs and symptoms. They can indicate a knee replacement fail.

What is Gelatin?
Actually, Gelatin consists of glycine and proline. They are found in fibrous tissues, bones and other organs of animals. You need these amino acids in order to get proper growth of hair, nail and skin. This is all what you need in order to look good and catch the eyes of others.
Gelatin Benefits
It's important to note that Gelatin is part of formulas for improving joint health. When used, some people find immediate relief from joint pain. For a long time, the therapeutic effect of gelatin in arthritis was due to its powerful cartilage healing properties. The assumption was based on the fact that the tissue of joints have a lot of collagen. As a matter of fact, some of the gelatin that you consumed becomes part of the joint cartilage; however, the process is slow paced. But the good news is that you can get relief almost immediately.
Since the product can heal your stomach, we suggest that you add gelatin to your diet so you can get rid of allergies.
Why Should You Take Gelatin
Aside from the health benefits given above, Gelatin is good for nail, skin and hair growth. After a few days of use, you will see a considerable difference in the tone and smoothness of your skin.
Apart from these, it will give you additional collagen and protein. As a result, you will be able to absorb the minerals in a better way. So, if you have been struggling to hone your joint or skin health, we suggest that you go for Gelatin instead of other sources of protein, such as whey proteins. You can also add it to your food and drinks so you can absorb the nutrients in the best way.
Also, here it is important to note that the product works better if taken with properly cooked meats. As an alternative, you can have it on an empty stomach in order to promote Human Growth Hormone production.
Long story short, if you have been looking for an ideal source of both the amino acids mentioned above, we suggest that you give a go to Gelatin. You won't regret your decision as the product is safe to use. So, you will always be on the safest side.
Have you been looking for a good source of collagen protein? If so, we suggest that you take a look at gelatin Australia.

Stories of Hope - David Levy's Win Against a Rare Blood Disorder

Stories of Hope - David Levy's Win Against a Rare Blood Disorder Stories of Hope - David Levy's Win Against a Rare Blood Disorder
By Richa Verma
Doctors of the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System have successfully conducted a stem cell transplant to cure a rare blood disorder, named congenital dyserythropoietic anemia (CDA). It' a rare condition, in which the body does not create enough red blood cells, which leads to organ damage and even early death.
This is the story of David Levy, who started experiencing the unbearable pain of CDA when he was 24. The pain was so severe that he had to leave his studies. He stated, "I spent the following years doing nothing - no work, no school, no social contact -because all I could focus on was managing my pain and getting my health back on track."
David Levy used to receive regular blood transfusions for more than 30 years, so that his tissues and organs keep receiving enough oxygen. When he was 32, he lost his spleen and developed an enlarged lever. As the results of regular blood transfusions, he was suffering from other illnesses such as fatigue, palpitations, and iron poisoning. At last, a desperate David wrote to Dr. Damiano Rondelli, the Michael Reese Professor of Hematology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He recollected, "It was bad. I had been through enough pain. I was angry and depressed, and I wanted a cure. That's why I started emailing Dr. Rondelli."
Dr. Rondelli stated that many institutions had rejected the possibilities of stem cell transplant on Levy just because of his physical condition was not stable enough to agree to chemotherapy and radiation. But Rondelli performed transplant on Levy in 2014. He said, "This procedure gives some adults the option of a stem cell transplant which was not previously available."
He also stated that Levy's condition created the optimum situation for the transplant. He added, "For many adult patients with a blood disorder, treatment options have been limited because they are often not sick enough to qualify for a risky procedure, or they are too sick to tolerate the toxic drugs used alongside a standard transplant."
After the surgery, Levy, now 35, is back to his normal life, even though he still feels the pain. He is pursuing his doctorate in psychology and runs group therapies at a behavioral health hospital. He said, "The transplant was hard, and I had some complications, but I am back to normal now. I still have some pain and some lingering issues from the years my condition was not properly managed, but I can be independent now. That is the most important thing to me."
The specialty of the transplant is, no chemotherapy and radiation were administrated in order to prepare the body for the surgery. The process involves the donor's cells taking over the patient's bone marrow slowly to avoid usage of any toxic agents to discard the patient's cells. Rondelli said, "The protocol can be used even in patients with a long history of disease and some organ damage because of the minimal use of chemotherapy."
Rondelli believes that the procedure has a great potential to treat severe congenital anemias. He concluded "The use of this transplant protocol may represent a safe therapeutic strategy to treat adult patients with many types of congenital anemias - perhaps the only possible cure."
The story of David Levy truly evokes a raw of hope for many such patients!

Why Vitamin D or Lack of It May Be Contributing to or Causing Your Health Issues

Why Vitamin D or Lack of It May Be Contributing to or Causing Your Health Issues Why Vitamin D or Lack of It May Be Contributing to or Causing Your Health Issues
By Ronald Vaught
I'm sure by now everybody has heard of Vitamin D and how important it is for our overall health! If you haven't, please crawl out from under that rock for a moment so I can bring you up to speed! Most people, I'm hoping, are even supplementing with it daily (or they should be). Vitamin D is actually a not a vitamin at all but is a pro-hormone, as it can be manufactured in our body when we are exposed to light. Herein is where our problems arise. We get very little sunshine into our tissues on a regular basis nowadays. Many of us live at a latitude which predisposes us to sub-par sun exposure on our skin (where all the Vitamin D magic starts), or we are slathering on sunscreen for protection against the damaging effects of the sun, (like producing Vitamin D to keep us healthy) which halts our vitamin D conversion!
It turns out that about 40% of the global population is deficient in Vitamin D and over 70% of Americans are either deficient or insufficient in their vitamin D levels. The sunlight we are exposed to daily is our primary source of vitamin D and since we get very little from our diets, if we are not receiving that exposure on our skin, you can imagine how important supplementation now becomes. A deficiency of Vitamin D (a serum vitamin D 25-OH level less than 20 ng/dl) is linked to many chronic diseases, cancers, poor bone health, autoimmune diseases, neurocognitive issues like depression, mood stability and Alzheimer's disease. You can begin to see the importance of having adequate levels for our bodies to operate efficiently and without disease. We have a vitamin D receptor in nearly every single cell in our body and it is responsible for regulating over 3000 of our genes. So, you can understand the gravity of the situation. Unless you plan on sunbathing in the summer and taking vacations to sunbathe in the winter, your Vitamin D requirements might need some attention. I always tell my patients that they should know their vitamin D level. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin (OK, pro-hormone) that needs to be monitored. As with any fat soluble vitamin, toxicity can be an issue (although Vitamin D has a very broad range level of safety).
Where do we start? With a simple blood draw, inexpensive, not routinely done with the normal CBC or CMP, but can easily be added by asking your doctor. The test is serum Vitamin D 25-OH, and is one of the more important numbers you should know.
I had a patient who was suffering from crippling agoraphobia (she felt it unsafe to leave her home). What stood out the most from her blood work results was that her vitamin D 25-OH level was in the single digits at 7ng/dl. Very shortly after supplementing with Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) she had no anxiety, depression or mood instabilities, and her words were, "she felt like herself again"!
Vitamin D is one of the supplements I tell every one of my patients they should be taking regularly for their health. How much you may ask? Dosage depends on your serum blood levels. If you are deficient or insufficient in your Vitamin D levels, work with a practitioner to help monitor it and set your dosing appropriately. That being said, a very safe dosage that you may immediately start supplementing with (until you can have your blood levels checked) is a summertime dose of 5,000 I.U.s and wintertime dose of 7-10,000 I.U.s of vitamin D3. Everyone should be supplementing with some amount of Vitamin D for better health. If you need your levels checked or dosage customized, give us a call and we'll accommodate your needs.
Serum Vitamin D levels should be added to your typical blood draw panels that are routinely assessed for your yearly health. If you've haven't had your Vitamin D levels taken please contact us at http://www.wealliving.com and we can arrange for you to obtain your levels. Dr. Ronald Vaught, D.C.
